Prelude no. 8 – “Orientation”

As it happened in prelude 7, also this prelude has to do with flowing water and white noise. When the trekker stands on the bridge, suspended above the water, the noise floods the soundscape. Although the torrent flows as a line, even if we rotate on our feet we can’t tell only by our hearing which direction the river flows towards (try to listen with closed eyes!). White noise is present at 360°. We need to stand at a certain distance from the river to be able to locate it in the sound space: now, the sound of the river has become a soundmark.
